Chamber of Deputies hosted the inauguration of the 8th and 9th volumes of the Encyclopedia of the Czech Legal History
The official introduction of the two latest volumes of the Encyclopedia of the Czech Legal History co-organised by the Parliamentary Library and Archives of the Chamber of Deputies took place in the newly redecorated hall of the Chamber of Deputies premises on 24 October 2017.
The Encyclopedia is a grand-scale project whose aim is to summarize the history of state and law in the Czech territory. 750 authors have taken part in its elaboration, which is currently half-completed. The 10th volume out of the foreseen 20 is to come out soon. The total number of pages of the already published volumes reaches 900 and the remaining volumes are expected to be published within the following two years.
The new volumes introduced to the public on 24 October are extraordinary in their focus on court procedures, including politically motivated processes in the past. The two volumes comprise the description of more than 200 important political cases ranging from Middle-age up to current times.
In its introducing speech, Petr Pithart stated that the Encyclopedia represents a unique project in the Czech legal literature and will serve as a prominent information source to legal historians.
