Chamber Business

Chamber business refers to plenary sessions of the Chamber of Deputies and their procedures; in a broader sense, it also includes meetings of bodies of the Chamber of Deputies (especially its committees and commissions, including the Commission of Inquiry). The procedural rules for plenary sessions as well as for meetings of the Chamber's bodies are governed by the Act on the Rules of Procedure of the Chamber of Deputies and by resolutions of the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies adopted in accordance with and within the framework of the Rules of Procedure.

The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies is convened during sessions of the Chamber of Deputies in the form of plenary sessions that are usually held for several days (mostly two days). A session of the Chamber of Deputies is convened by the President of the Republic within 30 days of the election into the Chamber of Deputies; the session is permanent, without interruptions, and lasts throughout the entire electoral term of the Chamber. Each plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies is usually convened by the President of the Chamber of Deputies.

Weekly agenda and other activities of the Chamber of Deputies

The agenda includes a timetable of activities that take place in the seat of the Chamber of Deputies within a week. These may include plenary sessions of the Chamber of Deputies, meetings of its bodies, seminars, conferences and other educational events organized by the Chamber's bodies or under their auspices or organized by the Office of the Chamber of Deputies.

The weekly agenda also includes off-site meetings of the bodies of the Chamber of Deputies.

The weekly program is not determined by any decision of the Chamber of Deputies; it is only a technical summary of activities convened by the plenary or by other entities in the Chamber of Deputies.

Calendar of meetings of the Chamber of Deputies

The calendar of meetings refers to a general timetable of activities of the Chamber of Deputies, planned for about 6 months in advance. The calendar is approved by a resolution of the Steering Committee. The calendar defines the types of activities to be carried out in the individual weeks of the year. A week reserved as as a “committee week” is reserved for meetings of the Committees of the Chamber of Deputies. During the “constituency week”, on the other hand, Deputies' activities are focused on their local constituencies and there will be usually no plenary session or committee meetings. The “Chamber of Deputies week” refers to a week (from Tuesday until Friday) when a plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies is scheduled to take place. In a “variable week”, an extension of the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies that started in the previous week can be expected, if the agenda has not been fully discussed.
