In this historic building of the Regional Assembly of the czech Kingdom, the anti-Austro-Hungarian movement took place, and a renewed Czechoslovak Government was constituted. Here on the 28th of October, 1918, the National Committee assumed self-government of the Czech Lands. Here on the 14th of November, 1918, the National Assembly convened for the first time. The assembly stripped the Hapsburg-Lothringian Dynasty of the Czech Throne, and declared a Czech Republic. The first president and government were unanimously elected. Here on the 29th of February, 1920, the National Assembly ratified the constitution of the Czechoslovak Republic.
